Do you know why so many people are depressed and filled with anxiety in our culture?
They’re bored and lack purpose. There aren’t any real daily dangers, obstacles or substantial challenges to overcome in the mundanity of their daily lives.
So they create them. The dangers, obstacles and challenges must be manufactured to meet the “survival” instincts everyone has and needs to use.
We used to have to figures things out for ourselves for our life to continue for very long. There were no Apple tags, cell phones, GPS or an ambulance coming to get your dumb ass if you got lost and wandered off a cliff. Our Moms wouldn’t have even known we were missing until we didn’t show up for dinner.
Our culture is obsessed with being safe.
Safety is our first priority. Keep everyone away from harm.
And growth, a better life, new adventures, discoveries and experiences. Stand still, don’t move, stay where you are!
No one will ever change their life or a society by keeping things the same and playing it safe. Rocking the boat is the only way to get to a different ocean.
We thought it was time to write this, because we’re experienced risk takers and we’ve failed more times than anyone else we know.
We horriblize everything, always imagining the worst possible outcome.
It is this way of thinking that has crippled personal and societal innovation during the last few decades. We’ve become cowards and sluggards, looking to everyone else to fix our culture and individual lives. Immobilized by every “what if” that floats through our minds, we stand still, believing that our lack of movement somehow shields us from harm. If we stand really still no one can see us.
We know these aren’t popular opinions.
But we don’t stand still long enough to care.
Starting Over. Again.
Join the reboot. Let's change this place by changing our own lives first.
